Fortnite on a laptop: Performance Mode and a charger, not a booster
On a laptop Fortnite dies from battery limits, iGPU, and heavy DX12 - not from a missing booster. Play plugged in, assign Fortnite.exe to the dGPU, set Rendering Mode to Performance, overlays off. SmoothWizard power plan is Basic. Pausing processes on fullscreen is PRO.
Epic itself points at Performance Mode when FPS is low. No invented frame counts.

Charger and dGPU
On battery, clocks drop. Windows Graphics: FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe to High performance / discrete GPU.

Performance Mode
Settings > Video > Rendering Mode > Performance. Apply, restart. That is Epic's menu, not a registry tweak.

Heat
After 10-20 minutes thermal throttle cuts frames. A stand, dust, fewer overlays. NVIDIA On + Boost on a thin laptop usually just adds heat.

VRAM and launchers
Uncheck High Resolution Textures in Epic install options if VRAM is 4-6 GB. Chrome and Discord overlay off.

Sometimes, at a low resolution. Force the dGPU first. Epic says a discrete GPU helps but is not required.

Yes, once power and the renderer are sane. Process pause is PRO, not Free.

Throttling is physics. The app can quiet background and the power plan. It cannot replace paste.
