CS2 hitching from Steam Overlay or NVIDIA? Turn overlays off
In CS2, frametime often dies from Steam Overlay and the NVIDIA overlay, not from a missing booster. Steam: Settings > In-Game > Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game off (or per-game Properties). NVIDIA App / GeForce Experience: in-game overlay off. Xbox Game Bar: Settings > Gaming. Game DVR in Optimize System is PRO.
Shift+Tab and Instant Replay run on every frame. Disable them before another tweaker promises magic FPS.

Steam Overlay
Steam > Settings > In-Game: uncheck Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game. Or Library > CS2 > Properties > General for CS2 only.

NVIDIA App / GeForce
In the NVIDIA App turn in-game overlay off. Legacy GeForce Experience: Settings > General > In-Game Overlay off. Instant Replay off for the match.

Xbox Game Bar
Windows: Settings > Gaming > Game Bar. Captures: Record what happened off. In the app, Game DVR lives in Optimize System and is PRO.

Fullscreen, V-Sync off
CS2 fullscreen, V-Sync off. Borderless makes overlay hooks easier.

Basic: power plan. PRO: pause processes on fullscreen. Do not run two boosters at once.

Do I need Shift+Tab for FACEIT?
No. FACEIT has its own client. Steam Overlay is not required for CS2.
Same on AMD?
Yes. Adrenalin overlay behaves like NVIDIA. Turn in-game overlay off in the AMD panel.
Does SmoothWizard disable Steam Overlay?
It does not inject into CS2. You disable overlay in Steam. PRO pauses chosen processes, it does not hook Steam.
